Have you ever noticed that you cannot find anything in your home, stuff is everywhere and you have an abundance of every thing? Some people may call you a pack rat or just simply tell you that you need a better system of organization. Well from time to time we need to clean our house and declutter it to stay sane. The reality is that our homes are a reflection of how we really feel deep down inside. As a result we outwardly display our feelings and emotions in our habitat.
I will be the first to admit that I use to struggle with this and wasn’t quit sure why. I tried to organize things but it always seemed as though I would run out of room or couldn’t find my item a particular spot in the house. This then made me realize that I had way too much stuff and needed to do something about it. So my initial thought was to get rid of all of my unnecessary belongings that severed absolutely no purpose in my home. However I knew that this was not going to eliminate the issue but only provide a temporary solution until I found myself right in the same boat again. Therefore I chose to pray about it. Yeah I know…lol. Not trying to be all deep but I had a feeling that it was something bigger going on inside of me that I was not aware of. After taking the situation to God I then realize what the problem was and felt the need to share this epiphany with you.
God revealed to me that people have an abundance of unnecessary things because they DON”T TRUST HIM TO SUPPLY IT AGAIN. Wow this blew my mind. So basically what has happen is that we hold onto things too long due to the fear of it never being replaced. Not realizing that if God has blessed you with these things, shouldn’t we trust him to do it again? We hold onto things for years with the hope of “maybe” using it again. When in the meanwhile another family could have been blessed with it and has a need for it today. The problem is that we don’t trust that we will get it back, so we hesitate to release it. “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” 2 Corinthians 9:6
I was shown that in order for God t o continue to bless me and my family; I had to learn how to give more. It’s a blessing to be a blessing to others. The truth of the matter is that, the more that we give, the more that God will bless us with. It’s a simple rule, give in order to receive.
These are the steps to help you declutter your home.
1) If you forgot you own something because its been in storage or in the back of your closet………give it away.
2) If you have not worn something in over a year, let it go and bless someone else with the clothing who is currently in need.
3) Try not to get emotionally attached to belongings because that will cause you to keep more items.
